Depth is built
one coat at a time.

The body is shaped, sealed and levelled until the surface is quiet.

Natural lacquer is brushed in exceptionally thin coats.

Each coat rests in warm humidity before the next can begin.

The surface is polished by hand until depth, colour and light emerge.

Uncured natural lacquer contains urushiol and is handled by trained makers with appropriate skin protection.
